Kuala Lumpur Eating: Japanese Restaurant

I read about the grand opening of the high-end seafood buffet restaurant earlier this year...and heard reports from people...never thought I would end up going over there just to try it. But tonight I met up with some people at Shook! and we ended upstairs at the Taiwanese import - JOGOYA. If you want to just sit, relax, eat and drink without bothering to read a menu - this is perfect for you - and they're open late. Take a taxi to the JW Marriott - then take the escalators to the Relish Floor. Can also walk downhill from the Bukit Bintang Monorail stop.

It was a very interesting experience and one I'll try again. It's just like the huge California seafood buffets - only much more elegant, darker and more upscale. It's over 2,700 square meters. It's filled with a maze of glass, steel and wood.

I think this should be saved for a special night out. There's a fun drinks bar where you can help yourself to a selection of teas, iced coffee, espresso and fresh coconuts. We liked the oysters on the halfshell and one of the larger grilled salted fishes was excellent. Prawns were a bit salty and the salmon sushi seemed almost frozen. The little cakes are definitely tastier than the cookies. Everything looks great but a lot of the dishes were too sweet - from the BBQ'd salmon to the Thai crab.
