MATTA TRAVEL FAIRE
I went to the MATTA TRAVEL FAIRE over the weekend to find some good bargains. It's really an interesting Malaysian custom to have these shows at the convention center jammed with booths and filled to the brim with people handing out flyers for package trips to Egypt, China and the United States. I went to my first MATTA FAIRE just a few days after arriving in the country and thought people were crazy to put themselves through the crowds and heat just to save a few bucks.
But now I look forward to them and made sure to arrive before six o'clock so I could see the Balinese cultural dancing. I know it was a just a small show but never mind, lah. I like Bali and their dancing - it was only missing the gamelan orchestra. Unfortunately, I couldn't make use of the 1-month return Thai Airways KUL-BKK-JFK ticket for $500USD and they didn't have the special KLIA Transit tickets. So I went away with just a few brochures on Thailand.
